One of the first mosques after the conquest
The Firuz Agha Mosque is among the oldest domed mosques built in Istanbul after the conquest. Its square prayer hall is covered by a single dome, with a three-domed outer portico in front; the minaret is at the right-hand corner. Firuz Ağa’s plain sarcophagus is in the mosque garden. At the back of the garden you can see the foundation remains of the Byzantine palaces of Antiochus and Lausus.
